Blink supports SOL initiative to replace plastic bags with “Paper” ones.
In contribution to preserving natural resources and achieving environmental security within the Kingdom, Blink supported the national SOL initiative aimed at reducing environmentally harmful substances and replacing such with biodegradable alternatives. Seeking to achieve this aim, Blink distributed free paper bags to shops in Amman as an alternative to the plastic bags.
This initiative is about creating public awareness on the importance of reducing the use of plastic bags, highlighting the potential future issues regarding the misuse of such substances and raising the profile of paper bags where they can be recycled and used in many industries such as fertilizers, unlike plastic bags.
Blink CEO, Zein Malhas, expressed her pride in this national initiative carried out by a group of young people who are keen on the sustainability of environmental resources through rational and responsible consumption and raising awareness of one of the priority issues of the government and the private sector alike.
She indicated that SOL goals are in compliance with Blink concept, which is based on applying the most recent technologies in order to serve the customers in a completely digital and paper-free environment. She also indicated that the support of this initiative is at the heart of the pillars of Blink's social responsibility strategy aimed at creating environmental awareness of the risks of using plastic bags, by highlighting its negative impact on the environment and providing alternative solutions, in addition to supporting the entrepreneurship of Jordanian youth and maximizing their values of responsibility towards the environment.
For his part, the Executive Director of SOL Initiative, Qais Murar, said: "Our initiative seeks to replace the greatest possible number of bags that are harmful to the environment in the local markets with environmentally friendly paper ones, all thanks to Blink for replacing 30,000 bags from local markets, equivalent to approximately 140 Kg of plastic wastes.
