Tips for Information Security
To ensure that you carry out your online banking transactions securely, Capital Bank recommends following these simple security tips:
Avoid using public or shared devices/networks:
Refrain from accessing your banking services using devices in public places or connecting to public Wi-Fi networks, such as those available in restaurants and airports. However, if you must do so, make sure to change your passwords afterward.
How to Secure Online Banking:
- Always enter Capital Bank's website directly in your browser's address bar by typing "https://www.capitalbank.jo" before logging in, to ensure you are on the correct website. Never click on links that direct you to our site. This will reduce the chances of falling victim to phishing attacks.
- Use a web browser with strong security features, such as pop-up blockers, malware detection, and other tools that help identify suspicious websites. Additionally, use antivirus software to verify the safety of email attachments and web links.
- Ensure that the bank's website address is "https://www.capitalbank.jo" and that a security icon (such as a padlock) appears in the browser's status bar or next to the URL, depending on your browser.
How to Protect Your Password and PIN:
- Choose strong passwords with at least 8 characters, combining letters, numbers, and special characters like $&... Avoid easily guessable passwords such as the names of family members, birthdates, pet names, city names, or car numbers.
- Keep your password private and do not write it down in your phone or email. Use a separate password for online banking and for other non-banking websites.
- Make sure no one is watching when you enter your password or PIN, or any other sensitive information. Never share your password or PIN, and do not leave them accessible to others.
- Do not reveal your password or PIN to anyone, even if they claim to be a Capital Bank employee.
- Shop securely with your Capital Bank cards by using the D Secure service. This service automatically sends a One-Time Password (OTP) via SMS to your registered mobile phone when making purchases on supported websites. Your purchase will only be processed after you enter the OTP sent to your registered phone. Additionally, you can set or adjust internet transaction limits on your cards to suit your shopping needs, providing an extra layer of protection for your online purchases.
Beware of Fraud (Phishing):
Online fraud known as "phishing" is a method used to steal identities and trick you into revealing your personal or financial information. Fraudsters create fake websites or send deceptive emails that mimic legitimate businesses and brands to steal your data, such as usernames, passwords, credit card numbers, and billing information.
These scams often involve fake offers like lottery prizes, package deliveries, data updates, financial assistance, exaggerated investment profits, or fake job recruitment companies.
Do not trust anyone, even if they claim to be from the bank:
- If you receive a phone call from an unknown number or person claiming to be from the bank, call the bank directly and contact your account manager to report the incident.
- Be cautious when opening emails and verify the sender, especially if the email contains attachments that could carry viruses.
- Never respond to any email asking for personal information, passwords, or PIN numbers.
- Do not share or reveal any information about your accounts when interacting with bank ads or posts on social media.
- Make sure you are communicating with Capital Bank’s official page on social media by checking for a verification badge on the page.

- To prevent unauthorized access to your account, Capital Bank will automatically lock or suspend your account after multiple failed login attempts.
- Always log out after completing your online banking transactions, rather than just closing your browser.
- Update your contact details with the bank whenever there are changes. This will allow us to reach you in a timely manner if necessary.
