When you submit an enquiry via our website, we ask you for your name, contact telephone number and email address, as well as the request details.

This Privacy Policy (as amended from time to time) governs the Mobile Banking service provided by Capital Bank of Jordan (the “Bank”) and your use of that service. This Privacy Policy describes Our policies and procedures on the collection, use and disclosure of Your information when You use the Service provided by Capital bank mobile application and tells You about Your privacy rights and how the law protects You.

We are acting as a data controller in accordance with Personal Data Protection Law No. (24) of 2023 and hence we are obliged to provide you with information about us, why and how we use your data, and we will also tell you about your rights and how you can exercise them. We use Your Personal data to provide and improve the Service. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

In this Privacy Policy, “We”, “Us” or “Our”, refers to Capital Bank of Jordan, its subsidiary or any legal entity operating under Capital Bank of Jordan group that you may interact with, directly or indirectly.

You” or “Your” means the end user and/or the customer of Bank, any individual or legal entity, registered in the mobile application, which receives information about the Bank products/services and marketing activities, or places an order for products/ services in the Bank mobile application, as well as other activities generated using the mobile application.

Addendum is considered a part of privacy policy.


As used in this Privacy Policy, the following terms shall have the following meanings:

  • "Account" means a unique account created for You to access our Service and/or parts of our Service.
  • "Application" means the software program provided by the Capital bank downloaded on any electronic device, named Capital Bank
  • "Device" means any device that can access the Service such as a computer, a cell phone or a digital tablet.
  • "Personal Data"shall mean any data and/or information which would identify you, directly or indirectly, regardless of its source or form. In this Privacy Policy, we will explain how we collect, share, and process and protect your personal data.
  • "Service Provider" means any natural or legal person who processes the data on behalf of the Bank. It refers to third-party companies or individuals employed by the Bank to facilitate the Service, to provide the Service on behalf of Capital Bank, to perform services related to the Service or to assist the Company in analyzing how the Service is used.
  • "Usage Data" refers to data collected automatically, either generated by the user of the Service or from the Service infrastructure itself (for example, the duration of a page visit).

 What information we collect

  • We collect personal Data and information about you when you use or access our platforms, and on an ongoing basis while you bank with us, including:
    • Information about your identity, such as your name and contact details (including your email address and mobile number)
    • Information about your personal circumstances (e.g. marital status, age, gender, occupation, Social Security numbers, and relevant information about your partner or family)
    • Information contained in identity documents or government documents, provided by you or someone acting on your behalf (e.g. Your national ID, your drivers' license, passport, or other provided ID) or government-issued papers you may hold and provide to us
    • Credit and other financial information, including transactions and payments made using our platforms and details of any of your assets and liabilities (such as your share holdings or accounts with other financial institutions).
    • Information you or someone acting on your behalf provides us as part of applying for a product or service from us, including details of your income and assets, financial liabilities, copies of bank statements and credit card statements from other financial institutions, as well as information from third parties regarding your credit history.
    • Information about your use of our online banking services, websites, mobile and tablet applications, and ATMs, including your login details, preferences, activity logs, IP address, behavioral data and information collected by cookies.
    • Details of consents you’ve provided us relating to the sharing of your data (including ,but not limited to, IBAN Inquiry consent, CLIQ consent, CRIF consent).
    • Information you provide in free text fields, such as surveys and search terms.
    • Information about the electronic devices (computers, mobile phones or tablets) you use to access our platforms and how you use them, including:
      • Details relating to your devices, their operating systems, browsers, other applications and settings.
      • Information associated with your access to our platforms, such as information relating to the wi-fi network or mobile network used by your devices when accessing our platforms.
      • General location information we get from your device’s IP address, or more specific location if you have opted in.
    • Information about the way you use your devices while accessing our platforms, such as pages you visit on our platforms, click rates, scrolling or swiping activity, mouse movements, or typing speed.
    •  We may collect and process this information to generate a 'behavioral profile' that relates specifically to you, which we can use to identify unusual behavior
    • Additional information when you’re using the Capital Bank Mobile app, as set out in the Addendum below.

Use of Your Personal Data

Capital bank may use Personal Data for the following purposes:

  • To provide and maintain our Service, including to monitor the usage of our Service.
  • To manage Your Account: to manage Your registration as a user of the mobile application. The Personal Data You provide can give You access to different functionalities of the Service that are available to You as a registered user.
  • For the performance of our financial services: to provide our financial services through our app, send you OTPs through SMS and provide you updated information about your account.
  • To contact You: To contact You by email, telephone calls, SMS, or other equivalent forms of electronic communication, such as a mobile application's push notifications regarding updates or informative communications related to the functionalities, products, or contracted services, including the security updates, when necessary or reasonable for their implementation.
  • To provide You with news, special offers and general information about our services which we offer that are enquired about unless You have opted not to receive such information.
  • To manage Your requests: To attend and manage Your requests to Us.
  • For other purposes: We may use Your information for other purposes, such as data analysis, identifying usage trends, determining the effectiveness of our promotional campaigns and to evaluate and improve our Service, products, services, marketing and your experience.

We may share your personal information in the following circumstances:

  • With third-party providers to provide the service, these will include service providers related to payment processing, warehousing and others
  • With business partners: We may share your information with our business partners to offer you certain products, services, or promotions.
  • With your consent: We may disclose your personal information for any other purpose with your consent.
  • Legally Bound to do so: if we are required to disclose or share your personal data in order to comply with any legal obligation, process or request or in order to enforce or apply the terms and conditions and/or any other agreements, for fraud protection and credit risk mitigation purposes).

We may collect this information from you directly or from third parties, including:

    • Person(s)acting on your behalf, such as a parent or guardian, agent, or authorized operator of your account.
    • Third party service providers who capture data when you use our platforms on our behalf.

If you give us information about others (such as a joint applicant or if you’ are an organization, its officers, or beneficial owners), you must have the authority to provide us with such information and make them aware of the provisions of this notice.

Retention of personal data:

  • The Bank reserves the right to retain your personal data taking into consideration the nature and sensitivity of such data.
  • Your personal data will be retained by us for compliance reasons or legitimate business interests,
  • We evaluate the potential risk of harm from unauthorized use or disclosure of your personal data that may be retained by us,
  • Data retention is a critical aspect of data management, as it ensures that important information is kept for the appropriate amount of time. This can help us comply with legal/ regulatory and governmental requirements, as well as protect against potential litigation or investigation.
  • Data retention will be to the extent necessary to comply with applicable laws and regulations.

Protection of personal data:

At Capital Bank of Jordan, we have in place a range of appropriate technical, physical and organizational measures to safeguard and keep your personal data confidential and maintains safeguards which include technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal data from loss, misuse, unauthorized use, access, inadvertent disclosure, alteration, and destruction during storage, processing and transmitting. We take the privacy and security of your personal data very seriously therefore, we require any the third party we engage with and to whom we disclose your personal data to implement similar confidentiality, data privacy and security standards and measures.

We update and test security on an ongoing basis and restrict access to your personal data to only those who need to know in order to provide Capital Bank of Jordan's products, content or services to you.

Addendum: Use of additional information for the purposes of the Capital Bank Mobile app

  • When you use or access the Capital Bank mobile app, in addition to the information and purposes set out above, we may collect, use and share additional types of information about you including:
    • collecting your device's location, if you have consented, which we may use to send you personalized content, including pointing you to the nearest ATM or branch, your consent may be withdrawn at any time by disabling location-based services on your Device, but we cannot guarantee that we will be able to offer the Service.
    • collecting other information, including authorizations and device inputs to implement additional features available through the software and hardware features of your device, e.g. voice control, tap and pay or Apple Pay
    • collecting and recording loyalty card information for any loyalty schemes you may be a member of.
    • collecting and disclosing information with your consent to enable you to connect with or use tools or applications from third parties, e.g. Robotack,

We may also ask for your consent to enable the Capital Bank Mobile app to use certain features or information contained on your device, including:

  • Device features which use biometric information (such as your fingerprint or facial ID) to authenticate you.
  • Other information stored on your phone, such as your contacts, which we use to display your address book when making a payment.
  • Device health feature such as health kit or app to count your Steps to gain more points If you enable these features, this information will still remain on your device. We will not collect or store this information without your prior consent. the app use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to Google API Services User Data Policyincluding the Limited Use requirements. Note that the apps distributed on Google Play are also subject to the Google Play Developer Distribution Agreement

TYour rights as a data subject

By law, you can ask us what information we hold about you, and you can ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate. If we have asked for your consent to process your personal data, you may withdraw that consent at any time.

If we are processing your personal data for reasons of consent or to fulfil a contract, you can ask us to give you a copy of the information in a machine-readable format so that you can transfer it to another provider.

If we are processing your personal data for reasons of consent or legitimate interest, you can request that your data be erased, subject to local law requirements.

You have the right to ask us to stop using your information for a period of time if you believe we are not doing so lawfully.

Finally, in some circumstances you can ask us not to reach decisions affecting you using automated processing or profiling.
