Official Launch of the Blink University Tournament in Cooperation with the Basketball Federation and Jordanian Universities
Moreover, Alayyan and Sports Federation of Jordanian Universities President Dr. Sari Hamdan signed a second agreement for an annual basketball tournament open to students from all Jordanian universities that will continue for two semesters in each season.
The signing ceremonies for both agreements were attended by Sports Federation of Jordanian Universities Secretary General Dr. Mustafa Al-Attiyat, Jordan Basketball Federation Secretary General Nabil Abu Atta, as well as Capital Bank Chief of Marketing and Corporate Communications Officer Touleen Barto.
Through its support of the league, Blink seeks to encourage university students to engage in sporting activities and events, advance their athletic abilities as well as offer them the necessary skills to join the federation of referees after their training and graduation.
The second agreement looks to qualify a generation of trainers through workshops at participating universities, with the goal of annually certifying the largest number of trainers at the Youth Leadership Development Center of the Ministry of Youth and/or the Jordan Basketball Federation.
At the signing ceremony, Malhas said that this agreement embodies Blink’s support of the youth, and university students in particular, by providing them with a suitable channel for their sports energies and creativity, as well as growing the base for participation in Jordanian basketball. The agreement will also offer participants an entire suite of digital transformation tools from Blink, furthering their financial inclusion and helping them reach financial independence.
Blink’s app is the first of its kind in Jordan to issue credit cards instantaneously after the completion of a number of simple steps, offering limits ranging between JD200 and JD1000. The credit cards also enjoy a repayment period of up to 60 days, the highest in the Jordanian market, and do not require any guarantees, collateral or the need for salary transfer.
Alayyan praised the relationship between the Jordan Basketball Federation and Sports Federation of Jordanian Universities which led to this agreement, where Jordanian Universities place their trust in the Jordan Basketball Federation to organize the Jordanian Universities League. Alayyan went on to thank Blink for seeing the potential to serve society by supporting this league and for believing in basketball as a popular and major sport among university students. This agreement will provide Jordanian clubs with the opportunity to discover new players.
Abu Atta spoke of his pleasure with the new agreements, adding that work has already started on new workshops for university coaches before the launch of the league. The federation has also started preparing for new arbitration workshops in preparation for the Jordanian Federation Basketball’s official university league with the support of Blink and includes matches as well as the qualification of Jordanians in training, arbitration, statistics, sports management, physical therapy and marketing.
Abu Atta went on to stress that the main objective of the league is to expand the base of the game as well as increase interaction with youth at Jordanian universities, in addition to spurring universities to invest more in the game. According to Abu Atta, the Basketball Federation is also seeking a solution to the game’s biggest challenge, which is the scarcity of basketball courts in Jordan, stressing that the league is a link to a comprehensive program by the union that aims to serve the game.
Also at the ceremony, Professor Hamdan spoke of the Jordan Basketball Association’s initiative to establish an official institutional league for Jordanian universities with the support of Blink, which is a step towards the further development of basketball in universities, whose path the current Federation Council has successfully led during the previous years, bringing it back into the limelight. He stressed that the Administrative Board of Universities Union upholds its eagerness to succeed and maximize the initiative and to provide all the tools necessary for universities to launch the league successfully, with further investment into sports facilities and programs in the future.
