Capital Bank Employees Participate in " Sanabel Al-Athar" Initiative to Support Food Security and Community Empowerment
In line with its ongoing commitment to promoting sustainability and creating a lasting social impact, Capital Bank participated in "Sanabel Al-Athar" initiative organized by the Arab Group for the Protection of Nature. This participation reflects the Bank's dedication to supporting development initiatives that combine food security, economic empowerment, and meaningful volunteer work.
The initiative also aligns with the Bank’s continued efforts to foster a culture of volunteering and encourage employee participation in activities that have a direct and positive impact on local communities. It reflects the Bank’s vision of building development partnerships that strengthen communities and promote their long-term sustainability.
Capital Bank employees participated in the initiative in Badr, volunteering to harvest part of the locally grown wheat crop cultivated by the Arab Group for the Protection of Nature across 60 dunums. The harvest supports a development project benefiting the women of “Asayel Badr Association”. The entire harvest is dedicated to producing bread and traditional food products, providing a sustainable source of income for six local families while supporting local food production and reinforcing the concept of food sovereignty.
The initiative enabled participating employees to experience firsthand the journey from field to table and engage with farmers and local families benefiting from the project and witness the vital role that agricultural and development projects play in empowering local communities. It also highlighted efforts to enhance self-sufficiency and sustainable production while supporting productive women and strengthening their economic empowerment.
Commenting on the initiative, Touleen Barto, Chief Marketing and Corporate Communications Officer at Capital Bank, emphasized that the program reflects the bank’s approach to transforming corporate social responsibility from a concept into meaningful action that creates a tangible and lasting impact on the lives of individuals and communities.
Barto added that sustainability is a cornerstone of the bank’s strategy, noting that supporting food security initiatives and empowering local communities reflects the bank’s strong belief in the private sector’s vital role in addressing development challenges and strengthening communities’ capacity for sustainable growth.
She further explained that involving employees in such initiatives fosters a culture of giving and teamwork within the organization while raising awareness of environmental and development issues. It also provides participants with the opportunity to witness the tangible impact of community initiatives firsthand, further enhancing the value and positive impact of these programs.
This participation reflects Capital Bank’s commitment to supporting initiatives that contribute to environmental protection, food security, and the empowerment of local communities within an integrated corporate social responsibility framework that connects economic development, environmental sustainability, and long-term social impact.
