Capital Bank Concludes Successful Second Edition of “Deer Malak” School Initiative to Promote Financial Literacy

Capital Bank has successfully wrapped up the second edition of its flagship awareness initiative, Deer Malak school initiative, which took place throughout October and November across several schools in Amman. The initiative reflects the bank’s ongoing commitment to strengthening financial literacy within the wider community.

Building on the strong impact of its first edition, this year’s program focused on simplifying financial concepts and making them more accessible to students. The initiative aligns with Capital Bank’s social responsibility strategy and supports the Central Bank of Jordan’s efforts to expand financial awareness and cultivate a financially informed society.

The 2025 edition saw high levels of student engagement through a series of interactive activities that began with rapid-fire Q&A rounds, allowing participants to collect points. Students with the highest scores advanced to a Jeopardy-style competition that tested their financial knowledge in five core areas: earning, spending, borrowing, investing, and protection.

In line with the initiative’s practical, hands-on approach, the winning team will join a training program at Capital Bank, where students are introduced to various professional areas within the banking sector, along with practical concepts related to career planning, saving, and investing.

Reflecting on the conclusion of the initiative, Touleen Barto, Chief Marketing and Corporate Communications Officer at Capital Bank, highlighted that financial well-being is essential to building a stable and prosperous society. She emphasized the importance of equipping younger generations with the knowledge and tools they need to make responsible financial decisions.

Barto added that Deer Malak Schools Initiative is a core part of the bank’s social responsibility strategy, designed to strengthen financial literacy from an early age by simplifying money management and making it more engaging for students in ways that positively shape their futures.

Deer Malak Schools is one of several programs under the broader Deer Malak initiative led by Capital Bank to enhance financial inclusion. The initiative also features activities tailored for women, children, and the children of clients, in addition to a strategic partnership with the Edraak platform through the “Essential Financial Skills” specialization, which provides young people with practical tools to advance their personal and community goals.
