Capital Bank Meets Its Promising Athlete Ambassadors and Reaffirms Commitment to Empowering Young Talent

Capital Bank hosted a meeting that brought together its CEO, Tamer Ghazaleh, members of the bank’s leadership team, and a group of promising Jordanian athletes sponsored by the bank. The meeting provided an opportunity to talk with the athletes about their experiences and ambitions, and the challenges they face throughout their sporting careers.

The session gave the young athletes the opportunity to engage in an open discussion with the bank’s leadership team on topics including talent development, managing pressure, making important decisions at key stages of their careers, and balancing sport with education and professional life.

The discussion also highlighted the valuable skills that sport develops beyond competition, including discipline, time management, teamwork, resilience, and the ability to recover from setbacks. These qualities play an important role in achieving success in education, the workplace, and leadership.

Touleen Barto, EVP - Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications at Capital Bank, said the meeting reflects the bank’s commitment to empowering individuals, developing their potential, and helping them prepare for the opportunities and challenges ahead.

Barto added that supporting young athletes goes beyond helping them compete and achieve sporting success. It also means celebrating their accomplishments, building their confidence, and encouraging them to apply the skills they gain through sport to their education, career choices, and contributions to society. She also emphasized the Bank’s focus on supporting young Jordanian women in sport and expanding the opportunities available to them.

Among the athletes sponsored by Capital Bank is rally driver Farah Zakaria, the first female driver to win the Jordan Karting Championship in 2007 and the only representative from the Middle East and North Africa to qualify for the finals of the global FIA Rally Star competition. She has also achieved more than 30 podium finishes and became the first Jordanian to compete in a Baja rally as part of the World Championship.

The bank also sponsors national foil fencing team athlete Celine Abu Obeid, who is continuing her preparations for the Youth Olympic in Dakar after completing two training camps in Europe.

Also among the sponsored athletes is national jiu-jitsu team member Maya Ishaqat, one of Jordan’s leading competitors on the international jiu-jitsu scene. Her achievements include a silver medal at the 2023 World Championship in Abu Dhabi and a bronze medal at the 2022 edition, as well as a bronze medal at the 2025 Asian Championship and a gold medal at the 2025 West Asian Championship. At the local and regional levels, Maya has continued her strong performance, winning seven gold medals at the Jordan National Championship and four gold medals on the AJP Tour in Abu Dhabi.

Capital Bank also sponsors equestrian Sanad Muaz, who is registered with the Royal Jordanian Equestrian Federation and began competing officially under the Federation in 2023. Most recently, he was crowned champion of the 2026 Jordan Cup in the 100 cm category.

Through its sponsorship of these young athletes, Capital Bank continues to invest in Jordanian talent and create opportunities for young people to develop their abilities and pursue their sporting journeys with confidence. This reflects the Bank’s belief that supporting talent from an early stage can broaden opportunities for achievement and help create role models who inspire the next generation of athletes.
