Capital Bank announced the sponsorship of the Talal Snobar Charity 3x3 Basketball Tournament in its second edition held on 19-22 April under the slogan "Play for a Humanitarian Purpose".
The basketball tournament, which is approved by the Basketball Association, is a charity initiative organized annually by Yasmine Snobar in cooperation with various national institutions and companies. The initiative seeks to raise funds through the organization of events and sports activities to encourage playing basketball for different age groups on the one hand, and on the other works to help the less fortunate by monitoring the proceeds of this tournament to contribute to the expenses of education of needy students in universities and colleges.
Capital Bank’s sponsorship comes under its Corporate Social Responsibility umbrella, which constitutes a top priority on the Bank’s agenda. The Bank strives to consolidate this concept, which reflects its commitment to society through its support to many sectors, most notably education.
Capital Bank views social action as a worthwhile endeavor that seeks to support innovative ideas that can bring about positive and effective change in individuals and society to achieve sustainable and inclusive development.
The tournament, which is registered with the World Basketball Federation, is divided into four sections: the first for amateur teams, the second for women's teams and the third for men, whilst the fourth section includes the finals of the first three sections.
Last year, the proceeds of the championship were allocated to finance three students in the first year of university, and this year’s proceeds of JOD 6,000 will continue to fund these students, in addition to financing the study of new high school graduates.
