After a series of intense rounds, Capital Bank announced the five final winners of its first-ever chess championship organized in partnership with the Royal Jordanian Chess Federation. Tawfiq Shobash, Abdul-Rahman Abu Libdeh, Samer Abu Naser, Nasim Ghosheh and Ahmad Khairy were honored in a final crowning ceremony for their unrivaled ability and strategic thinking, which gave them a clear edge over the seven other contestants in the dynamic championship.
Held last Friday at the Royal Jordanian Chess Federation headquarters, the “Capital Bank First Chess Championship 2019” was organized with the objective of providing the bank’s employees with a vibrant and intellectual team-building event, allowing them to reconnect with each other and with the timeless strategy board game. The championship was based on the Swiss system, allocating 30 minutes per player over the course of seven rounds. At the conclusion of the championship, the five winners were honored by Capital Bank’s CEO, Ala Qumsieh, and the Treasurer of the Royal Jordanian Chess Federation, Sami Al-Safraini.
Qumsieh underscored his great pride at the outstanding achievements made by the staff members who participated, expressing gratitude to the Royal Jordanian Chess Federation for overseeing the first championship organized by the bank. He also expressed his appreciation for the federation’s tremendous efforts to facilitate such constructive competitions and for its continued positive representation of Jordan in regional and global tournaments.
